Leon J. “Lee” Ike, 62, of Canonsburg, died Tuesday, December 11, 2012, in Veterans Affairs Medical Center of Pittsburgh.
He was born April 7, 1950, in Dover, N.J., a son of Shirley Kennerup of Tucson, Ariz.
Mr. Ike was a graduate of Trinity High School, Washington, and Dean Institute of Technology, Pittsburgh.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnamese Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, Vietnamese Campaign Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry.
Mr. Ike worked as a truck driver for Carbon Express in Wharton, N.J., before retiring.
He was a Trophy Lifetime member of North American Fishing Club and was an avid fisherman.
On November, 12, 1977, he married Cindy L. Hans, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Richard (Maryann) Ike of Greensburg, Bradley J. (Lauren) Ike of Canonsburg and Kevin D. (Tabby) Ike of Monongahela; a brother, Donald S. Sensky of Tucson, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Cortney, Jordan, Austin, Autumn, Hailey, Carter and Aubrey; and a great-grandchild, Keirsten.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Nation Funeral Home Inc., 220 East Lincoln Avenue, McDonald, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 14, with the Rev. Ben Robinson, pastor of Midway Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township. The family suggests memorials be made to Washington Area Humane Society, 1527 Route 136, Eighty Four, PA 15330.
