Andy M. Bryner, 82, of Coal Center, died Friday, December 14, 2012.
He was born Sunday, May 4, 1930, in Mt. Braddock, a son of the late Frank and Lucinda Bryner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Mary M. Bobish Bryner, RN, in 1984; a twin brother, Amos, sister Margaret and brother Dwayne, all in infancy; and a grandson, James Jacob Wade. He was deeply saddened by the death of his son, Col. Drew A. Bryner, August 2, 2010.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 18 years, Charlotte; sister Iona Wilson; daughter and son-in-law Claudia and James Wade; daughter-in-law Janice Bryner; and grandchildren Tammy Wade, Luke and Nick Wade, Rachel and John Bryner, Chris Wade and Ben Wade.
Mr. Bryner graduated from North Union High School in 1948 as a resident of Mt. Braddock. He served three years in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-53. His undergraduate degree was earned in 1959 at California University of Pennsylvania with honors. He was a graduate of the University of Virginia, having been a Fellow in 1969.
Mr. Bryner taught from 1958 to 1988 at California Area High School.
He was a member of Disabled American Veterans of America and California American Legion and was a 50-year member of Roscoe Lions Club.
Mr. Bryner traveled extensively throughout most of the world. He appreciated prose and poetry and was constantly listening to good music. He was aware of an abundance of love from his parents, sister, two children, Drew and Claudia, and his wonderful wife, Charlotte.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Mariscotti Funeral Home Inc., Anthony N. Mariscotti, supervisor, 323 Fourth Street, California, and until 11 a.m. Monday, December 17, when services will be held in the funeral home with Col. Ron Bonomo officiating.
Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to California Area School District Foundation, P.O. Box 531, California, PA 15419. Envelopes also will be available at the funeral home.
