Alfred D. “Fred” Kraf of Canonsburg died Saturday, December 15, 2012, in Canonsburg General Hospital.
He was born February 27, 1918, in Glendale, a son of the late Stanley and Josephine Zuchinski Krawczynski.
Mr. Kraf had worked for the former P&WV Railroad as a machinist for 22 years. He retired from the maintenance department of Canon-McMillan School District in 1981, after 18 years of service.
He was a member of Christian Bible Fellowship in Canonsburg.
Mr. Kraf loved his Lord and was a devoted Christian and a champion for unborn babies.
He enjoyed sports, gardening and was a handyman. As a youngster, he boxed and pitched for the P&WV Railroad baseball team. Around the house, he could fix or repair anything, whether it was plumbing, roofing or automotive.
On June 2, 1946, he married Margaret Rakar, who died April 29, 2007.
Surviving are a daughter, JoAnn Golick of Canonsburg; a son, Daniel Kraf of Canonsburg; seven grandchildren, Carolyn Gesselberty (John), Christopher Golick (Maureen), Nicole Hodgson and Micah, Jennifer, Wendy and Edward Kraf; and 11 great-grandchildren, John and Victoria Gesselberty, Jocelyn and Amelia Golick, Ethan Kraf, Aliana, Faiden and Trillian Hodgson and Jade, Ezekial and Sophie Kraf.
Deceased are a son, Edward Kraf; four brothers, Zigmont, Robert, Edward and Daniel Kraf; and a sister, Jean Butkus.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 19, with the Rev. Andrew Cobucci officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
