Steve Kayatin

Steve “Steamer” Kayatin, 90, of California, died Friday, December 14, 2012.

He was born Saturday, March 25, 1922, in Daisytown, a son of the late Louis and Mary Szucs Kayatin.

Mr. Kayatin was a member of Daisytown Presbyterian Church, Daisytown Hungarian Club and a founding member of Daisytown Athletic Club.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are three sisters, Irene Yonash, Magdaline Sakach and Jennie Sarka.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 68 years, Nellie Bobin Kayatin; two children and their spouses, Brenda and Richard Hopkins of Clover Hill and Steven and Frances Kayatin of Canonsburg; and three grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren, Jessica Hopkins-Estis and husband Dennis, Christopher Kayatin and wife Michelle, Dr. Matthew Kayatin, Teresa McAnally and husband Michael and Mandy Bennett and husband Brian.

Also surviving is the light of his life, a great-granddaughter, Lilah Estis.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and until 11 a.m., the time of service, Tuesday, December 18, in Mariscotti Funeral Home Inc., Anthony N. Mariscotti, supervisor, 323 Fourth Street, California, with Pastor Doug Quail officiating. Interment will follow in Phillipsberg Cemetery, California.
