Ann Lucas Cecchini

Ann Lucas Cecchini, 92, of Avella, died at 10:20 p.m. Sunday, December 16, 2012, in Washington County Health Center, Chartiers Township.

She was born September 8, 1920, in Avella, a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Benca Lucas.

Mrs. Cecchini attended Avella High School.

She was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church.

Mrs. Cecchini was a lifelong resident of Avella and, during World War II, she served as a welder, while her husband served in the U.S. Army.

She enjoyed gardening and being with family.

On July 6, 1943, she married William N. Cecchini, who died August 10, 1996.

She was the last of her immediate family.

Surviving are two sons, William L. (Debbie) Cecchini and Nicholas (Kimberly) Cecchini, both of Avella; a daughter, Sandra (Matthew) Widomski of PawPaw, Mich.; six grandchildren, Dana (Jason) Lett, Ryan (Becky) Cecchini, Elena (Gary) Conkle, Dominic Cecchini, Beth (Joe) Mickels and Nathan Widomski; and six great-grandchildren, Alexis, Josh, Anna, Peyton, Madison and Elio.

Deceased are a son, John Cecchini; three brothers, John, George and Dr. Michael Lucas; and a sister, Mary Havko.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home Inc., 18 Campbell Street, Avella, PA 15312. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 20, in St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, 95 Highland Avenue, Avella, with the Rev. Robert M. Staszewski officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Avella.

Memorial contributions may be made to Avella Volunteer Fire Department, Avella Area Public Library Center or St. Michael Church Building Fund.
