Dorothy Jean Koonse, 77, of Washington, died Sunday, December 16, 2012, in her home, following a two-year illness.
She was born June 19, 1935, in Washington, a daughter of the late Leroy Samuel and Metta Darling Von Scio Gibson.
Mrs. Koonse was a member of Lighthouse Church.
She was a homemaker.
On August 2, 1954, she married Richard Daniel Koonse Sr., who died June 10, 1988.
Surviving are a son, Richard D. (Debbie) Koonse Jr. of Smithfield; two sisters, Elizabeth Ellen Logsdon of Washington and Anna Marie Prevost of Avella; and six grandchildren, Lisa, Daniel, Tara, Kenny, Jeff and Justin.
Deceased is a daughter, Shirley Jean Koonse.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 20, with the Rev. George VanRiper officiating.
