Florence Elizabeth Zimmerman Calvert, 91, of Waynesburg, formerly of Spraggs, died at 1:20 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2012, in Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg.

She was born Tuesday, February 8, 1921, in Spraggs, a daughter of the late William G.C. Zimmerman and Goldie Mae Hixenbaugh Zimmerman.

Mrs. Calvert was a member of Blacksville Baptist Church, where she had taught Sunday school for several years. She was a member of the women’s society and the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union, East Franklin Grange, Pomona Grange and State Grange. She also was a life member of Greene County Retired Teacher’s Assosciation. Mrs. Calvert was a former member of the Greene County Farmers Association.

For 16 years, she worked as a cook for Central Greene School District and for several years was the auditor for Wayne Township.

Her husband, Truman Russell Calvert, whom she married September 9, 1939, died November 30, 1996.

Surviving are two sons and their wives, Thomas W. (Leanne) Calvert of Berlin and Robert Earl (Sarah) Calvert of Mercer; five grandchildren, Jeff Calvert, Steven Calvert, Scott Calvert, David Calvert and Christine Reed; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Calvert was the last of her immediate family.

Deceased are four sisters, Cecyle Wise, Mabel V. Phillips Hillberry, Nellie R. Garee and Clemmie B. Longstreth; three brothers, George W. Zimmerman, Robert E. Zimmerman and Charles B. Zimmerman.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 27, with Pastor Art Malculm officiating. Burial will be in Blacksville Cemetery, Blacksville, W.Va. The family asks that memorials be made to Blacksville Baptist Church, P.O. Box 7, Blacksville, WV 26521 or one’s favorite 4-H club.
