John DePolo

The Rev. John DePolo, 92, departed this world and joined his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2012.

Born in Cerenzia, Italy, and raised in West Virginia, Pastor DePolo spent his early years in the coal mines of North Central West Virginia. At the age of 32, he followed the call of the Lord and entered into the ministry. He humbly began his ministry performing home missionary work in Philippi, W.Va. As a full-time minister, he led and pastored both the Christian Church of North America in Canonsburg and Christian Church of North America in Washington. Ultimately, The Rev. DePolo served the Lord as the senior pastor of Christian Church of North America in Washington, for the next 39 years.

He was born to Francesco DePolo and Francesca Aiello DePolo. He is the last of seven children. His siblings included a brother, Ercole, who died in 1924; and five sisters, Evelyn Secreto and Anna Conch of Hepzibah, W.Va, Rose Koontz of Baltimore, Md., Teresa Urtso of Bridgeport, W.Va., and Mary Karnis of Meadowbrook, W.Va.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Lindsey DePolo, after sharing 73 years of marriage; and by a loving family. A son, the Rev. Frank DePolo and wife Becky of Belle Vernon; a daughter, Brenda Kludo, wife of Dr. Ronald Kludo of Boca Raton, Fla.; grandchildren Philip DePolo of Canonsburg, Jonathan DePolo and wife Janelle of Las Vegas, Nev., Dr. James Brent Morosco and Shannon of Chicago, Ill., Larissa Morosco and husband Matthew Parkes of North Miami Beach, Fla., and Heather DePolo of Pittsburgh; great-grandchildren Hunter DePolo and Dillon DePolo of San Diego, Calif., and Lauren DePolo and Clark DePolo of Canonsburg.

Also included in the very special immediate family are a niece, Jean Conch Spina; her daughter, Lisa Grabiak and husband Jeff, and son Timothy Spina and wife Donna and their three children of Canonsburg; as well as many nieces and nephews still residing in West Virginia.

The Rev. Depolo tirelessly ministered and served the Lord with his wife, Doris, for nearly 50 years in North Central West Virginia and Western Pennsylvania, ultimately relocating to Boca Raton to live out his last days.

Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where a memorial service and funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 27.
