Caroline Harmuth
Caroline Harmuth, 93, of North Strabane Township, died Monday, December 24, 2012, in Paramount Senior Care, Peters Township.
She was born October 20, 1919, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Peter and Anna Piaseka Cwynarski.
Mrs. Harmuth was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Parish and the former St. Genevieve Church in Canonsburg, where she was active with Christian Mothers. She also was a member of Business & Professional Women and Canonsburg Senior Citizens.
Prior to her retirement, she worked as a cafeteria employee for Canon-McMillan School District.
In November, 1939, she married George A. Harmuth, who died September 23, 1957.
Surviving are a son, Ronald Harmuth and wife Pauline of Indian Harbour Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Diane Wishner and husband Brennan of Canonsburg and Eileen Markle and husband Butch of Washington; seven grandchildren, Brennan (Bonnie), Brian (Annette) and Bret (Lisa) Wishner, Gregory, Luke and Ronald Jr. Harmuth and Strawn Markle; four great-grandchildren, Beau, Ben, Brittany and Amanda Wishner; a great-great-grandchild, Daniel Harmuth; and a most precious and cherished lifelong friend, Violet DaPra Bender.
Deceased are a brother, Joseph Curnarski; and four sisters, Rose Marie Donaldson, Mary Butka, Stella Simms and JoAnn Biwojna.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Sollon Funeral Home Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, J. David Sollon, supervisor, Phillip L. Sollon, director, where departing prayers will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, December 28, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Canonsburg. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Township. Christian Mothers will say the rosary at 3 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
