Edward C. Vercoe, 60, of Roscoe, died Tuesday, December 25, 2012, in his home following a brief illness.

He was born October 15, 1952, in North Charleroi, a son of Lorraine Oliphant Vercoe of Roscoe and the late Edward W. Vercoe.

Mr. Vercoe graduated from California High School in 1970 and California University of Pennsylvania in 1974.

He was president of Roscoe Borough Council, a member of RESA Police Board, Roscoe Slovak Beneficial Club and Roscoe American Legion.

Mr. Vercoe retired from Ringgold High School in June 2012. He was a dedicated teacher for 38 years, head of the math department and was deeply devoted to his students.

In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife, Kathleen Timlin Vercoe; daughter Jaime Vercoe Dundr and husband Jason of Avon, Ohio; son Ryan Vercoe and girlfriend Alexis Kalvesmaki of Roscoe; brother Ronald Vercoe and wife Phoebe of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister Debra Skomsky Willis and husband Rod of Greensburg; granddaughter Avery Lyn Dundr; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joan and John Timlin of Long Branch; aunts; uncles; nieces; and nephews.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 226 Fallowfield Avenue, Charleroi. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 29, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 105 Good Street, Roscoe. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Coal Center. Relatives and friends attending the funeral Mass are being asked to go directly to the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ringgold Interact Club American Cancer Society Relay For Life in his memory through the funeral home.
