Virginia P. Baker

Virginia P. Baker, 93, of Elm City, N.C., formerly of Ruff Creek and Beallsville, died at 1 a.m. Sunday, December 23, 2012, in Elm City Assisted Living.

She was born Tuesday, December 9, 1919, in Washington Township, Greene County, a daughter of the late Jesse G. Phillips and Effie Day Phillips.

Mrs. Baker was a former member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Ruff Creek.

She worked for Greenway Manufacturing for 27 years as an inspector and presser, retiring in 1983.

Her first husband, Ray A. Scott, died in June 1977. On June 19, 1983, she married J. Louis Baker, who is deceased.

Surviving are a son and his wife, Terry A.(Carol) Scott of Rocky Mount, N.C.; two granddaughters, Shannon Scott and Krista Scott; three great-grandchildren, Jack Greco, Jayden Greco and Riley Roelich; a stepson, Larry Baker of Beallsville; and three stepgrandchildren.

Deceased are a stepson, James Baker; a sister, Irene Robson; and a brother, Oscar Phillips.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, December 31, in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370. Services will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Greene County Memorial Park chapel, Morgan Township, where burial will take place.
