Ernest F. Grillo, 90, of Cecil, died Thursday, December 27, 2012, in Washington Hospital.
He was born July 28, 1922, in Cecil, a son of the late Louis and Catherine Lambardo Grillo.
Mr. Grillo was a member of St. Mary Parish, Cecil American Legion and United Mine Workers of America.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, traveling and taking care of his “meatball,” a term he affectionately called his wife.
Mr. Grillo worked as a coal miner for Vesta 5 in Fredericktown.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Turiczek Grillo of Cecil; a son, Ernest (Sheila) G. Grillo of Sammamish, Wash.; three daughters, Catherine (Andrew) Lory of Fairlee, Vt., Patricia Fisher of Canonsburg and Tina (Robert) Hervol of Hickory; five grandchildren, Morgan and Adam Lory, Jason Fisher, Nichole Hervol Nagaya and Michael Hervol; and four great-grandchildren, Van, Gage and Asher Lory and Hannah Fisher.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are brothers William and John Grillo and sisters Julia Turiczek, Mary Pino and Carmella Dumann.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Coleman-Taylor Funeral Services, 3378 Millers Run Road, Route 50, Cecil, where prayers of transfer will be said at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 2, followed by a Christian Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Cecil, with Father Stan Gregorek officiating. Interment will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township. Full military rites will be accorded by Veterans of Foreign Wars 191 and American Legion 902 Honor Guard.
