Lewis R. Adams

Lewis R. “Pappy” Adams, 90, of Canonsburg, died Saturday, December 29, 2012, in his home, with his family by his side.

He was born August 29, 1922, in Washington, a son of the late George Nichols and Irene Miller Adams.

Mr. Adams was a graduate of Trinity High School, before serving for 20 years with the U.S. Army. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict. He was a master sergeant.

He worked for McGraw Edison as a supervisor.

Mr. Adams was Methodist.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. He was manager for Little Gunners Football and an honorary Washington County deputy sheriff.

Surviving are his wife, Loretta Tyler Adams; two daughters, Rochelle Tyler of Carnegie and Sheilah Adams of Canonsburg; two grandchildren, Jordan Allen and Breah Lee; and several nieces and nephews.

He was the last of his immediate family.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Sollon Funeral Home Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, J. David Sollon, supervisor, Phillip L. Sollon, director, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 3, with the Rev. George Hickey officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
