Susan L. Byrns, 65, of Greensburg, died Saturday, November 3, 2012, in Southwest Veterans Center, Pittsburgh.

She was born January 30, 1947, in Marietta, Ohio, a daughter of the late William and Julia Davis Critchfield.

Prior to retirement from the Greensburg office, she was a supervisor for the Social Security Administration for more than 30 years.

Mrs. Byrns was active in many organizations, incuding American Association of University Women. She was honored by the Department of Health and Human Services as Mid-Atlantic Woman of the Year.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her stepmother, Helen Critchfield, and two husbands, Richard N. Steinbrenner and Dr. John A. Byrns.

Surviving are sons Timothy R. Steinbrenner of Pittsburgh and Gregory M. (Christina) Steinbrenner of Baltimore, Md.; four stepchildren; grandsons Jack and Michale Steinbrenner; a granddaughter, Cate Steinbrenner; a sister, Donna Durbin of Georgia; and a stepsister.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Barnhart Funeral Home, 505 East Pittsburgh Street, Greensburg, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 9.
