Mildred “Mimi” Christoff passed away peacefully Sunday, November 4, 2012, in Chandler, Ariz.

She was born Mildred Custer June 23, 1927, in Pittsburgh. She had two brothers and four sisters.

Mrs. Christoff was married to Charles J. Christoff, who passed away in 1970, and was a longtime resident of Canonsburg, living on Murdock Street. In 2006, she relocated to the Phoenix, Ariz., area and resided at Emeritus at Chandler Special Care Unit.

She began a career in library services as a 12-year-old volunteer page. Her career spanned more than 53 years with Greater Canonsburg Public Library, where she held the head librarian position for 31 years and where she retired in 1999.

Mrs. Christoff was active in the community and belonged to Canonsburg Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are a sister, Betty Heidler; a brother, Harry Custer; a daughter, Nancy (Mike) Masterovsky of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Michael C. (Rosalba-Lugo) Masterovsky of Beverly, Mass., Brian D. Masterovsky of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Jennifer (Troy) Hartrick of Ahwatukee, Ariz.; and two great-grandchildren, Luke G. and Taylor Ella Hartrick.

Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Beinhauer-Bogan Funeral Home, 164 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-5810, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 9. Interment will follow in Oak Springs Cemetery, Chartiers Township. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Alzheimer’s Research or Alzheimer’s Association.
