Joan T. Adamson, 79, passed away October 27, 2012, at Suncoast Hospice House, Palm Harbor, Fla., after a brief illness.
Formerly of Washington, she was a resident of Oldsmar, Fla., at the time of her death.
She was born October 9, 1933, the only daughter of Julia Taper Polinski and John B. Taper, in Canonsburg.
She attended Indiana State University and was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. She was a teacher at Pinellas County, Peters Township, Canon-McMillan and Washington school districts. She also was a teacher at Fairwinds Treatment Center in Clearwater, Fla.
She was very active in the Washington community, serving as president of the Daughters of Current Events, and holding various other board positions on Symphony South, the Neighborhood House Association and Citizens Library.
She was an avid bridge player who enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, cooking and spending time with friends.
Surviving are a daughter, Nancy, son-in-law Michael F. Trauffler and four grandchildren, Ryan, Lexton, Kyle and Jenna, all of The Woodlands, Texas.
Deceased are two sons, Brian D. Adamson and an infant son.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 12, in East Lake Methodist Church, 2801 East Lake Road, Palm Harbor.
