Dominick Bovalina Sr.
Dominick Bovalina Sr., 84, of Burgettstown, passed away Monday morning, November 12, 2012, in HCR ManorCare, McMurray.
He was born April 15, 1928, in Slovan, a son of the late Vito V. and Angela Luci Bovalina.
Mr. Bovalina was a 1946 graduate of Union High School in Burgettstown.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict, being honorably discharged in 1952.
Along with his brother, Frank, he owned and operated his family’s business, Bovalina Packing Co. in Slovan, retiring in 1979.
He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Burgettstown and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3440 and Burgettstown Lions Club.
Mr. Bovalina was an avid golfer and enjoyed camping with his family in their motor home throughout the country.
On February 11, 1956, he married Judith Scruppi, who survives.
Also surviving are four children, Thomas V. Bovalina and wife Sharon of McMurray, Yolanda Duffin and husband James of Alta Loma, Calif., Dominick Bovalina Jr. and wife Karen of Venetia and Vito M. Bovalina and wife Sharon of Imperial; 10 grandchildren, Collin, Corey and wife Desiree, Olivia, Anna, Anthony, Chad, Clay, and Luke Bovalina and Logan and Cameron Duffin; a brother, Frank Bovalina and wife Ruth of Eldersville; a sister, Teresa Christy of Oakdale; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are two sisters, Rose Dugas and Yolanda Bovalina.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Lee and Martin Funeral Home, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 17, in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. George Moneck as celebrant. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Burgettstown. If so desired, memorial donations may be made in his memory to Oour Lady of Lourdes R.C.
