Eli M. Westich

Eli M. Westich, 79, of Vestaburg, died Tuesday, November 13, 2012, in Washington Hospital.

He was born July 23, 1933, in Grindstone, a son of the late George and Mary Andrews Westich.

Mr. Westich was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving during the Korean War.

He was a 1952 graduate of Centerville High School and attended Penn Commercial.

For more than 25 years, he worked as a finisher/roller for J&L Steel, Aliquippa Works, until his retirement in 1985. At the time of his death, he was employed as a bus driver with Impiccini Bus Lines.

Mr. Westich was a member of the United Steel Workers of America and was chairman of Vestaburg Sewage Authority.

He was a hardworking family man who enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.

On June 16, 1962, he married Mae Leonard, who survives.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Bryan Westich of Kingston, Tenn.; two daughters, Sheri Malcom and husband Chris of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Renee Westich of Apex, N.C.; two grandchildren, Brennan and Eric Westich; a brother, Paul Westich of Fredericktown; six sisters, Sarah Volchko of Pittsburgh, Martha Danielson of Ohio, Elizabeth Pankiewicz of Ponte Verde, Fla., Teresa Westich of Carnegie, Louise Toth of Parma, Ohio, and Ann Laird of Flatwoods, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are four brothers, George “Juke”, Nick, Adam and Mike Westich.
