Betty Jane Cummins
Betty Jane Cummins, 89, of McMurray, formerly of Greene County, died at 5:05 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2012, in McMurray Hills Manor in McMurray.
She was born Friday, November 16, 1923, in Whiteley Township, Greene County, a daughter of the late William A. Cummins and Myrtle Jane Anderson Cummins.
Miss Cummins was a member of Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church at Gordon Hill for more than 50 years and had held several offices in the church.
She was a member of RCA Retirement Club and was an avid bowler and golfer. She was also a volunteer for Canonsburg Hospital Auxiliary.
Miss Cummins was a 1942 graduate of Waynesburg High School and a 1950 graduate of Canonsburg Hospital School of Nursing. She worked for Canonsburg Hospital until May 1952, when she went to work for RCA as an industrial nurse in Canonsburg until it was sold. She then worked for Tactec as an industrial nurse until February 1986. She retired in July 1986.
Surviving are two nephews, William Cummins of Atwater, Ohio, and David Cummins of Wooster, Ohio, and a niece, Mary Jane Franks of Apple Creek, Ohio.
Deceased are a sister, Alice Louise Cummins, and three brothers, William Ross Cummins, Robert Allen Cummins and Clarence Cummins.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the time of services, Monday, November 26, in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370, with the Rev. Kathy Higgins officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Whiteley Township, Greene County.
