William L. Jemison, 67, of Westland, died Wednesday, November 21, 2012, in Greenery Specialty Care, Canonsburg.

He was born April 23, 1945, in Canonsburg, a son of Joseph and Edith Elder Jemison of Westland.

Mr. Jemison was a 1963 graduate of Fort Cherry High School, where he was a member of the 1961 State Champion basketball team.

He had worked as a coal miner at the former Westland Mine, as an aide at the former Woodville State Hospital, as a machinist for Teledyne Corp. in Carnegie and as a janitor for Service Master in Canonsburg, Range Resources in Southpointe and L&B Cleaning of Pittsburgh.

Mr. Jemison enjoyed gardening and spending time with friends and family.

He was Baptist.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his wife, Linda Kelley; four children, Mark Jemison (Margaret) of Washington, Angela Kelley Johnson of San Diego, Calif., Brian Jemison of Westland and Jackie Jemison of Philadelphia; nine grandchildren, Tia and Tisha Jemison, Zachery and Olivia Johnson, Alberto and Alaya Moss, Bobby and Marcus Kramer and James Milton; two sisters, Patricia Partee of Canonsburg and Toni Jemison of Houston; three stepchildren, Ricki Kelley of Charleroi, Teresa Turner (Walt) of Westland and Carol Moss of Burgettstown; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Deceased are two brothers, Joseph and Lawrence “Tweety” Jemison.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 28, with the Rev. Joyce Moten officiating.
