Donald E. Morgan
Donald E. Morgan, 76, of Lawrence, died Friday, November 23, 2012, in Townview Health and Rehabilitation Center, Canonsburg.
He was born April 9, 1936, in Lawrence, a son of Michael and Ethel Fereday Morgan.
Mr. Morgan served his country in the U.S. Navy.
Prior to his retirement, he worked as a coal miner. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing and was an avid Pirates fan.
On September 11, 1993, he married Marian Lipski Morgan of Lawrence, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Michael Morgan and wife Susan of Upper St. Clair and Matthew Morgan and wife Joley of Eighty Four; a stepson, David Holliday and wife Debbie of Washington; two daughters, Jennifer Lynn Morgan and partner Kristy of Denver, Colo., and Kelly Morgan and partner Laura Lynn of Mt. Lebanon; a stepdaughter, Tracy Gamble of Canonsburg; a stepson, David Holliday Jr.; two sisters, Jane Stutts of Chicago, Ill., and Pat Chambers and husband Ray of Eighty Four; two grandchildren, Matthew and Kennedy Morgan; four stepgrandchildren, Justin Holliday, Damen Gamble, Timmy Gamble and Erica Holliday; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Michael, Jack and Chuck Morgan; and two sisters, Evelyn Morgan and Ethel Plute.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 Wednesday in Sollon Funeral Home Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, J. David Sollon, supervisor, Phillip L. Sollon, director, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 29. Interment will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township. Full military rites will be accorded by combined honor guards of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 and American Legion Post 902.
