Gladys Abbadini, 83, of Waynesburg, formerly of Fredericktown, Deemston Borough, died Monday, November 26, 2012.
She was born December 30, 1928, in West Virginia, a daughter of the late Walter and Elizabeth Brant Platter.
Mrs. Abbadini attended California High School and Pittsburgh Beauty Academy.
For many years, she owned and operated Gladys Abbadini’s Beauty Salon in Fredericktown.
She was a lifelong member of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church of Fredericktown.
Mrs. Abbadini was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family.
On June 28, 1947, she married Robert J. Abbadini, who survives.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two sons, Joseph Abbadini and wife Donna of Cokeburg and Leonard Abbadini and wife Lou Ann of Waynesburg; a daughter, Theresa (Teri) Hoyle and husband Jim of Clarksville; 11 grandchildren, Jeff (Tonya) Abbadini, Jerred (Anita) Abbadini, Lenny (Jennifer) Abbadini, Lowell Abbadini, Linda (Dave) Donely, Lindsay (Vince) Kozlowski, Lucas Abbadini, Leah (Paul) Abbadini, Lauren Abbadini, Jimmy (Amy) Hoyle and Jamie (Dave) Carter; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Platter of Virginia Beach, Va.; three sisters, Dolores Tennant of Brownsville, Betty Buzzelli of Warren, Ohio, and Evelyn Hrabak of Perryopolis; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, are a daughter, Linda Abbadini, who died January 5, 1960; four brothers, George, Harry, Walter and Glenn Platter; and three sisters, Elsie Danko, Doris Lincoski and Hazel Farkas.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Greenlee Funeral Home, 42 Bank Street at Crawford Road, Fredericktown, where a prayer service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 30, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Fredericktown, with the Rev. Paul Grunebach as celebrant. Entombment will be in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Fredericktown American Legion, Hanson Cole Post 391, Honor Guard, Box 517, Fredericktown, PA 15333.
