Michael William Castellino
Michael William “Bill” Castellino, 86, of Burgettstown, died Wednesday evening, November 28, 2012, at Wyngate Senior Living Community in Weirton, W.Va.
He was born September 15, 1926, in Burgettstown, a son of the late William and Philimia Cavalier Castellino.
A 1944 graduate of Union High School, Burgettstown, he received his bachelor of science degree in education from the University of Pittsburgh.
From January 1944 to February 1947, he served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II in Germany and the European Theater.
Mr. Castellino was a partner of Coll Tire Distributors before owning Bill’s Tire Center in Burgettstown and served as a past director of Lincoln Bank.
He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Burgettstown, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3440, the Burgettstown American Legion and VFW, the Burgettstown Italian Club and the Polish Club.
His wife, Jean Gilbert Pappas Castellino, survives.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a brother, Robert Castellino and wife Rose of Jupiter, Fla.; two sons, William Castellino of New York City, N.Y., and Thomas Castellino and wife Cheryl of Wallace, N.C.; four stepchildren, Charles Pappas Jr., husband of the late Michele of Burgettstown, Timothy Pappas of Atlanta, Ga., Leslie Pappas Miller and husband Charles of Marathon, Fla., and Daniel Pappas and wife Regina of Burgettstown; grandchildren Brian Castellino and wife Amanda (and their children, William and Nolan) and Brad Castellino; and five stepgrandchildren, Lauren Miller Hooper and husband Ryan, Marissa Pappas Kotouch and husband Ron of Jupiter (and their son, Liam), Erika Miller, Anthony Pappas and wife Kearsten of Jupiter (and their children, Zakkary, Alexzander, Krystopher, Jakkob and Nathyn) and Lilliana Pappas.
In addition to his parents, deceased are his first wife, Catherine McGivern Castellino, who died in 1978, and a brother, Joseph Castellino, who died in 2010.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Lee & Martin Funeral Home, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, December 3, in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Burgettstown, with the Rev. George Moneck, pastor, as celebrant. Interment with full military honors will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Burgettstown. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in his memory to Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church, 1109 Main Street, Burgettstown, PA 15021.
