John Haddad

John “Joed” Haddad, 81, of Bentleyville, died unexpectedly Friday, November 30, 2012, in his home.

He was born February 6, 1931, in Bentleyville, a son of John and Jennie Mahfood Haddad.

He was a 1949 graduate of Bentleyville High School and attended Penn Commercial Business School in Washington.

A veteran, Mr. Haddad served during the Korean War with the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954.

He worked for A&P in Monongahela until 1979 and then Foodland in Bethel Park from 1979 to 1992. At the time of his death, he worked at the Giant Eagle in Bentleyville.

Mr. Haddad was a member of St. Michael’s Antiochian Orthodox Church, Monessen, American Legion Post 165 in Bentleyville and the former Veterans of Foreign Wars in Bentleyville.

Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Wanda Leaver Haddad; two sons, Joed Haddad (Rachael) of South Park and Thomas Haddad of Moon Township; two grandchildren, Eli and Maurie Haddad; a sister, Jennie Braun of Santa Monica, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a brother, Louis E. Haddad, and sisters Eleanor Wright, Genevieve Essey and Minnie Koltash.

Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255, where family and friends will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday, December 4, followed at 10 a.m. by a funeral service in St. Michael’s Antiochian Orthodox Church, 1201 Patton Avenue, Monessen, with Father Fred Pfeil as celebrant.
