Kent Montgomery
Devoted husband, father was avid sports fan Kent Montgomery, 58, of Washington, passed away in his home after a lengthy illness. He was born April 28, 1954, in Washington, son of the late William and Shirley Syrek Montgomery. Mr. Montgomery was affiliated with Abundant Life Baptist Church, South Strabane Township. He graduated from Washington High School in 1972, where he played football and softball and sang in the school chorus. He graduated from West Liberty College with a degree in accounting in 1977. Mr. Montgomery went on to work for several years as an accountant for Westinghouse and Falconi Automotive. He and his wife owned Travelhost Travel Agency for several years before he retired. He was an avid Steelers fan, played softball for many years with several local teams and coached several girls softball teams. Upon retirement, he continued to follow sports, work puzzles and write poetry. He continued his love for music, including singing with a beautiful tenor voice. He was a trivia buff, especially with musical groups, and, more recently, assisted his wife with various projects to benefit the American Cancer Society since his wife is a survivor. He was the beloved husband of Pamela Stedman Montgomery, whom he married June 6, 1981, who survives. He was a devoted and loving father to his sons Jordan Montgomery, 26, and Sean Montgomery, 24, both of Washington. He was extremely proud of their accomplishments as young men as they graduated with honors from college and were just starting their careers. Also surviving are sister Kimberly Mowl of Mather, nephew Logan Mowl of Mather; two brother-in-laws, Ron Stedman of Washington and Bryon (Cynthia) Stedman of Florida; nephews Michael (Kristen) Stedman and Marc Stedman of Washington, nieces Allison and Jacsyn of Florida. Also surviving are a loving extended family, including his mother-in-law, Joyce Stedman; uncle Terrance Syrek; cousin Terry Syrek; and several aunts, uncles and close cousins. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., Wilson at East Katherine avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 11, in the funeral home with Pastor George Garancosky officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery, beside his beloved mother.
