Dorothy Elizabeth Clutter

Former Washington Hospital unit secretary Dorothy Elizabeth Clutter, 86, of Washington, died Friday, October 12, 2012, in Donnell House, Washington, following a two-year illness. She was born November 29, 1925, in East Pike Run Township, Washington County, a daughter of Stephen and Cora Rutherford Douglas. Mrs. Clutter graduated from California High School and attended Douglas Business School. She retired from Washington Hospital, where she was a unit secretary for 13 years. Mrs. Clutter was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughters and Senior Citizens Singers and Dancers. Mrs. Clutter enjoyed spending time with her family, was well-known for her apple pies, and enjoyed sitting on her porch, reading, solving crossword puzzles, playing cards, watching golf and working with ceramics. She was very handy and able to fix everything in her home. On December 27, 1944, she married James H. Clutter, who died September 24, 1976. Surviving are four sons, James (Barbara) Clutter of Roswell, Ga., David Clutter of Washington, Patrick (Heather) Clutter of East Liverpool, Ohio, and Edward Clutter of Woodstock, Ga.; five daughters, Paula (Alex) Jester of West Alexander, Linda (Bob) Sten of Roswell, Barbara (Bob) Zanolli of Washington, Cindy Brezinski of Washington and Mary (John) Felak of North Augusta, S.C.; a sister, Donna Harris of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; 23 grandchildren, Elizabeth Anne Swart, Melany Agnew, Amanda Jester, Jimmy and Becky Clutter, Rob (Carrie) Sten, Greg Sten, Katy (Mike) Shoukry, Zach (Mindy) Zanolli, Stefanie (Phillip) King, Stephen Brezinski, Matthew Ricupero, Ashley (Andrew) Beard, Natalie, Amy, Jonathan, Julia, Jillian and Ella Clutter, and Michael, Michelle, Andrew and Nicole Felak; two stepgrandchildren, Stacey (Marty) Lucas and Alexis (Rich) Novak; and 14 great-grandchildren, Alesha Stankus, A.J., Christian, Hannah, Joshua and Randi Lynn Agnew, Caroline Sten, Juliette and James Shoukry, Benjamin Zanolli, Austin Beard, Dylan King, Jace Day and Easton Swart. Deceased are a grandson, Patrick F. Clutter II; a stepgranddaughter, Cory Haught; a brother, Bob Douglas; and two sisters, Eleanor Musar and Carol Genbauffe. Friends were received Sunday and will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. The Christian Mothers will recite the rosary at 4 p.m. Monday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 16, in Immaculate Conception Church, with Father Nicholas Spirko as celebrant. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Township.
