Enjoyed being a self-employed farmer Merle W. Patterson, 98, of Eighty Four, died Monday, October 15, 2012, in Town View Health and Rehabilitation, Canonsburg. He was born October 6, 1914, in Eighty Four, a son of Walter Speer and Annie Elizabeth Hamilton Patterson. Mr. Patterson enjoyed being a self-employed farmer all of his life and attended auctions and sales. For several years, he drove a school bus for the Canon-McMillan School District. He attended Memory Chapel in Vanceville. His wife, Margaret L. Sumney Patterson, died April 25, 1994. They were married December 2, 1948, in Oakland, Md. He was the last of his immediate family. Deceased is a sister, Edith Hamilton. Friends are welcome from 1 to 2 p.m., the hour of a prayer service, Thursday, October 18, at Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255. Private interment will follow in Pigeon Creek Presbyterian Cemetery, Eighty Four.
