Mabel J. Messer, 74, of Brownsville, died Friday, October 19, 2012, in IHS Greenery, Canonsburg.

She was born May 11, 1938, in Gans, a daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Hafner Clemmer.

Mrs. Messer was a 1956 graduate of Centerville High School.

She was a homemaker and a self-taught seamstress.

Mrs. Messer enjoyed sewing, crafts, flowers, animals and nature. She was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was married to the late Anthony J. Messer, who died March 26, 1993.

Surviving are two sons, Michael P. Messer (Lee Ann) of Frederick, Md., and Bryan J. Messer (Brianne) of Brownsville; a daughter, LaDonna L. James (Clyde) of Remington, Va.; a sister, Marjorie Cahill of Folsom, Calif.; two brothers, John Clemmer of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Charles Clemmer of Cleveland, Ohio; four grandchildren, Desiree Moore, Typhany Martinez, Michael J. Messer and Isabella Messer; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Greenlee Funeral Home, 42 Bank Street at Crawford Road, Fredericktown, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 24. Interment will be in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Washington Area Humane Society, P.O. Box 66, Eighty Four, PA 15330.
