George W. Mox, 88, of Waynesburg, died at 9 p.m. Sunday, October 21, 2012, in Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg.He was born Monday, February 18, 1924, in Carmichaels, a son of the late Thomas and Christina Mox.Mr. Mox lived his early life in Greene County and then, for more than 40 years, he lived in Detorit, Mich., before moving back to Greene County.He was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Army during World War II.Mr. Mox was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4793 and James Farrell American Legion Post 330.He enjoyed fishing and hunting.Mr. Mox was an engineer at DTI Railroad for more than 40 years, retiring in 1983.On June 25, 1949, he married Marjorie E. Roupe, who died October 6, 2005.Surviving are a son, David Mox of Waynesburg; a sister, Gloria Huffman of Waynesburg; and two nieces and two nephews.Deceased are a sister, Nellie Gamble, and two brothers, Samuel Mox and Thomas Mox.At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation or services. Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370, are in charge of arrangements.
