Walter Rosemeier
Walter Rosemeier, 86, of Cokeburg, died Monday, October 22, 2012, in Washington Hospital.He was born June 22, 1926, in Cokeburg, son of the late Edward H. Sr. and Frances Risca Rosemeier.A U.S. Navy veteran, Mr. Rosemeier served during World War II on the USS Bainbridge and the USS New Orleans. He received the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Victory Medal, Pacific Theater Ribbon and American Theater Ribbon.In 1981, he retired from Corning Glass Works, Charleroi, as a grinder/polisher with more than 34 years of service.Mr. Rosemeier was a lifelong member of Ave Maria Parish and member of Cokeburg Moose and Sons of Italy 609 Cokeburg.He enjoyed home remodeling, refinishing furniture and polka dancing.On February 3, 1950, he married Catherine Harvey, who survives.Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Wayne Rosemeier (Nancy) of Bentleyville and Daniel Rosemeier (Geri) of Cokeburg; two daughters, Debra Bostich (Larry) of Coal Center and Charlene Kerestan (Jeffrey) of Ellsworth; 12 grandchildren, Mike Belski, Bryan Belski, Rodney Willis Jr., Casey Hopkins, Kriste Bostich, Brandon Bostich, Cara Franks, Erin Crile, Danelle Rosemeier, Jason Rosemeier, Justine Kerestan and Michael Kerestan; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marge Smida of Monongahela and Blanche Wallace of Parma, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.Deceased, in addition to his parents, are sister, Adeline Ward, and two brothers, Edward H. and George Rosemeier.Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main Street, Bentleyville, where prayers will be said at noon Friday, October 26, followed by a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Richeyville, with the Rev. Edward Yuhas as celebrant. Interment will be in Scenery Hill Cemetery. Full military rites will be accorded graveside by Hancock/McCune/Horne American Legion Post 705, Centerville.
