Franklin J. Balak

Franklin J. Balak, 75, of Waseca, Minn., died unexpectedly Wednesday, October 24, 2012, in Rochester (Minn.) Methodist Hospital, surrounded by family and friends. He was born February 21, 1937, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of Stephen and Elizabeth Macey Balak. Mr. Balak graduated from Ramsay High School in Mt. Pleasant and St. Vincent College in Latrobe. Following his schooling, he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He was united in marriage to Arielle Wilhelm on December 3, 1966, in Washington. Mr. Balak was employed with RCA Corp. from June 1964 until moving to Minnesota in 1983. Surviving are his wife, Arielle of Waseca; three children, Franklin (Jessica) Balak Jr. of Jamestown, N.D., Michael (Mary Buschette) Balak of Roseville, Minn., and Theresa Majerus of Rochester, Minn.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; two sisters; and lifelong friend John Bienia. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 3, in Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca, with the Rev. Marty Schaefer officiating.
