Linda Susan Day, 62, of Cokeburg, died Saturday, October 27, 2012, in her home. She was born February 18, 1950, in North Bethlehem Township, a daughter of Frances Martha Thomas Powell of Cokeburg, who survives, and the late Walter George Powell. Mrs. Day was a 1968 graduate of Bentworth High School and attended Penn State University, where she received a bachelor’s degree in education. She had been employed as a housing manager for Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority in Norfolk, Va. Mrs. Day enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, playing Scrabble and traveling in her recreational vehicle. On November 27, 1999, she married Leslie Day, who survives. Surviving, in addition to her husband and mother, are five brothers, William Powell (Henrietta) of Scenery Hill, Robert Powell (Rita) of Foweler, Mich., Richard Powell (Jennifer) of Cokeburg, David Powell (Cynthia) of Bethel Park and Daniel Powell (Gretchen) of Bethel Park; four stepchildren, Jane Jordan of Philadelphia, Karen McMurray, Steven Day and Robert Day, all of Portsmouth, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from noon to 1 p.m., the hour of a memorial service, Thursday, November 1, in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville. Interment will be private. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Washington Area Humane Society, P.O. Box 66, Eighty Four, PA 15330.
