Amelia “Dolores” Bioni Aiello, 85, of Bridgeville, died Saturday, October 27, 2012. She was born March 23, 1927, in Peters Township, a daughter of Dominick and Martha Pape Bioni. On February 9, 1950, she married Michael Aiello, who died January 31, 2010. Mrs. Aiello was a member of South Fayette Senior Citizens. She enjoyed traveling and reading. Surviving are three daughters, Karen Aiello, Cheryl (David) Burch and Amy Aiello, and many nieces and nephews. Deceased are five brothers, Walton, Theodore, Angelo, Henry and Howard Bioni; and a sister, Theresa DeFillippo. Melvin Harold Arthur Jr., 54, of Scenery Hill, died Saturday, October 27, 2012, in his home. He was born May 8, 1958, in Washington, a son of Henrietta Behanna Powell of Scenery Hill and the late Melvin Harold Arthur Sr. Mr. Arthur worked in pipeline construction. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are a sister, Danyelle (Rowland) Gravel of Rhode Island; a niece, Hailey Gravel; and a nephew, Devon Gravel. Franklin J. Balak, 75, of Waseca, Minn., died unexpectedly Wednesday, October 24, 2012, in Rochester (Minn.) Methodist Hospital, surrounded by family and friends. He was born February 21, 1937, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of Stephen and Elizabeth Macey Balak. Mr. Balak graduated from Ramsay High School in Mt. Pleasant and St. Vincent College in Latrobe. Following his schooling, he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He was united in marriage to Arielle Wilhelm on December 3, 1966, in Washington. Mr. Balak was employed with RCA Corp. from June 1964 until moving to Minnesota in 1983. Surviving are his wife, Arielle of Waseca; three children, Franklin (Jessica) Balak Jr. of Jamestown, N.D., Michael (Mary Buschette) Balak of Roseville, Minn., and Theresa Majerus of Rochester, Minn.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; two sisters; and lifelong friend John Bienia. Etta Jean Carroll Beyor, 88, of Bentleyville, formerly of Beallsville and Highgate Center, Vt., died Sunday, October 28, 2012, in her home. She was born February 27, 1924, in Beallsville, a daughter of the late Hobart and Lillian Amos Carroll. Mrs. Beyor was a 1942 graduate of Beallsville High School. From 1942 to 1968, she worked for Beallsville Telephone Co., first as an operator and later as a clerk in the business office. She also served in the U.S. Navy Reserve during World War II. Mrs. Beyor was a member of Beallsville United Methodist Church and was a member of the auxiliary of the former Beallsville American Legion. On December 22, 1982, she married Maynard Joseph Beyor, who died June 11, 2004. Surviving are two children, Judith Lucy of Bentleyville, with whom she made her home, and James “Hobie” Carroll of Beallsville; two grandchildren, Collette and Scott Lucy; six great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; four brothers, Paul Carroll of New Salem, Marion “Pete” Carroll of Beallsville, Melvin Carroll of Sumerville, S.C., and Earl Carroll of Windsor Locks, Conn.; a sister, Jessie Ward of Autaugaville, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are three brothers, Willis “Bobo” Carroll, Floyd “Bushel” Carroll and Wayne “Beans” Carroll. Linda Susan Day, 62, of Cokeburg, died Saturday, October 27, 2012, in her home. She was born February 18, 1950, in North Bethlehem Township, a daughter of Frances Martha Thomas Powell of Cokeburg, who survives, and the late Walter George Powell. Mrs. Day was a 1968 graduate of Bentworth High School and attended Penn State University, where she received a bachelor’s degree in education. She had been employed as a housing manager for Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority in Norfolk, Va. Mrs. Day enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, playing Scrabble and traveling in her recreational vehicle. On November 27, 1999, she married Leslie Day, who survives. Surviving, in addition to her husband and mother, are five brothers, William Powell (Henrietta) of Scenery Hill, Robert Powell (Rita) of Foweler, Mich., Richard Powell (Jennifer) of Cokeburg, David Powell (Cynthia) of Bethel Park and Daniel Powell (Gretchen) of Bethel Park; four stepchildren, Jane Jordan of Philadelphia, Karen McMurray, Steven Day and Robert Day, all of Portsmouth, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. Beulah N. Detwiler, 83, of Forward Township, died Monday, October 29, 2012, in Mt. Vernon of Elizabeth in Elizabeth Township. She was born June 13, 1929, in McKeesport, a daughter of the late Benjamin F. Boyd and Bertha Smith Boyd. Mrs. Detwiler was married to Howard J. Detwiler, who is deceased. She was a member of Ella Hollow Bible Church in Forward Township. Mrs. Detwiler loved to travel and enjoyed spending time with friends. Surviving are a son, Timothy J. (Chris) Detwiler of Forward Township; a granddaughter, Megan R. Detwiler of Forward Township; and nieces and nephews. Olive Mae Morris, 81, of Washington, died Sunday, October 28, 2012, in Country Meadows, Bridgeville. She was born August 30, 1931, in Washington, a daughter of Arthur and Elva McCartney Reedy. Mrs. Morris was a homemaker. She was a 38-year member of the Moose, a member of the Eagles and Ladies Auxiliary of Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 and she was associated with the Jerry Lewis Telethon locally in Washington. On June 26, 1971, she married Alvin Earl Morris, who died August 12, 2006. Surviving are two sons, John (Sharon) Wojcuich of Richlands, N.C., and Harold (Christina) Maleski of Washington; a daughter, Marilyn Taylor of Washington; a sister, Bonnie (Gary) Jones of Cambridge, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her dog, Angel. Deceased are a brother, Clarence Russell Jr.; and a grandchild, Aaron Taylor. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in William G. John D. “Buck” O’Connor of Upper St. Clair died Saturday, October 27, 2012. He was the beloved husband of 53 years to Sally Fellows O’Connor; loving father to John (Amy) O’Connor, Joni (Mike) Namuth, Janie (Glenn) Davis, Jim (Sue) O’Connor, Julie (Greg) Horan and Jeff (Melissa) O’Connor; devoted grandfather to Kayla and John O’Connor, Lindsay and Connor Namuth, Lauren and Jeffrey Davis, Justin, Ryan and Josh O’Connor, Christopher and Jill Horan and Caroline, Catherine and Matthew O’Connor; and loving brother to Jean Beatty, and the late Frank O’Connor, Bill O’Connor, Jim O’Connor, Thomas O’Connor, Rose Mary Mahoney, Rita Fallon and Florence Hall. Donna L. Packrall, 62, of Fredericktown, Deemston Borough, died Monday, October 29, 2012, in Donnell House, Washington. She was born September 4, 1950, in Washington, a daughter of the late Harold and Margaret Godetz Rodabaugh. Mrs. Packrall was a 1968 graduate of Bethlehem-Center High School and graduated from Penn Commercial, Washington. For 25 years, she was a self-employed consultant for PartyLite. Her charismatic personality made her a fascinating person to be around. She truly enjoyed people. She was a lifelong member of Beallsville United Methodist Church and was a member of Laurel Valley Corvette Club. Mrs. Packrall loved her grandchildren, friends and family. She enjoyed traveling, shopping and boating. On February 14, 1970, she married Thomas E. Packrall, who survives. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two sons, Thomas C. Packrall and Marc D. Packrall (Dana), both of Fredericktown; three grandchildren, Cody Packrall, Kate-Lynn Packrall and Nina Packrall; two brothers, Robert Cook (Priscilla) and Harold “Buddy” Rodabaugh, both of Fredericktown; and several nieces and nephews. Alleen M. Stewart, 84, of Washington, died Saturday, October 27, 2012, in Donnell House, Washington. She was born March 15, 1928, in Washington, a daughter of John Allen and Jessie McCollum Martin. Before entering nursing school, Mrs. Stewart drove a milk truck for Gather’s Retail Milk business. She graduated from Washington Hospital School of Nursing and followed this at Mercy Hospital School of Anesthesia. On September 17, 1960, she married Wayne Stewart, who died on January 23, 2008. Mrs. Stewart was the last of her immediate family. She loved her dog, Rusty, flowers, polkas and game shows. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hummell & Jones Funeral Home, Thomas W. Charles William VanDruff, 88, of Waynesburg, died at 12:08 p.m. Sunday, October 28, 2012, in Golden Living Center South Hills at Canonsburg, following a lengthy illness. He was born May 17, 1924, in Perry Township, Greene County, a son of the late John Lawrence and Beatrice Lyda Dulaney VanDruff. Mr. VanDruff was the founder and owner of VanDruff Tractor and Implement Sales of Waynesburg for 55 years. He bought his first Ford tractor in 1944 from Fox Motor Co. of Waynesburg and did custom work for farmers in Greene County. He worked for Fox Motor Co. from 1948 to 1953, selling and servicing Ford tractors and equipment. In 1953, he purchased the tractor and implements division of Fox Motor Co. and moved it to its present location. He joined the Waynesburg Volunteer Fire Company in 1955 after helping rescue flood victims on High Street in Waynesburg by the former Bryan’s Dairy. He was asked to join the company by former chief, Clovis Wright. He held the position of trustee in the fire company for several years and was a designated truck driver during fire operations. He also delivered seven babies as a volunteer fireman. Mr. VanDruff served on the board of Greene County Soil and Water Conservation District and campaigned in Harrisburg on issues relating to farmers in Greene County. He also served on the board of the Greene County Cooperative Extension Service. He was a big supporter of the 4-H livestock clubs in Greene County and Marshall County, Va. In 1986, he received the State Citation Award by the Future Farmers of America, recognizing VanDruff Tractor and Implement Sales for his contribution of time and equipment for Future Farmers of America and vocational agriculture instruction. He also was named an Honorary Chapter Farmer by Waynesburg Future Farmers of America. Mr. VanDruff and his wife, Anna Grace, were honored as Paul Harris Fellows of Rotary International and by Waynesburg Lions Club for unselfish service during the Christmas season. He was most noted for dressing up as Santa Claus and visiting many schools, churches, private parties and family gatherings, bringing joy and smiles to young and old. He was a member of Claughton Chapel Methodist Church in Whiteley Township. During a conference at the church, he met Anna Grace Dillinger of Dawson. They were married October 22, 1950. Together they had three sons, who survive, Robert Allen and wife Cynthia of Glassboro, N.J., Roger Lynn and wife Janice of Waynesburg and Rodney Lee and wife Colleen of Sarver; four grandchildren, Jamie L. VanDruff and wife Jackie and April Michelle VanDruff, all of Waynesburg, and Jonathon B. and Richard C. VanDruff, both of Sarver; a great-grandson, Tyler Jack VanDruff of Jefferson; and a half brother, the Rev. John Leslie VanDruff and wife Lyn of Springfield. Deceased is an infant son, Charles Robert VanDruff; a brother, Richard Corbly VanDruff; two sisters; and a brother who died in infancy. Gail Martha Walther, 91, of Washington, died Sunday, October 28, 2012, in her home. She was born August 29, 1921, in Dunn Station, Morris Township, a daughter of Grover Stevenson Conklin and Ethel Clara Simpson Conklin. Mrs. Walther graduated from Morris Township High School. A hard worker throughout her life, she was owner and founder of Hill House Pizza, which she ran from 1961 until 1978. In addition to owning a fuel station on Route 19 North, Mrs. Walther worked at Duncan Miller Glass and JCPenney. She raised racing pigeons and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening and all outdoor activities. Mrs. Walther was a member of Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church. On August 29, 1940, she married Cyril Glenroy Walther, who died December 19, 1980. Surviving are two sons, Cyril N. (Kathy) Walther of Washington and Regis (Janet) Walther of Prosperity; a daughter, Cyrilla (Richard) Kockler of Washington; a brother, Guy Conklin of Georgetown; five grandchildren, Cyril M. (Marsha) Walther, Renate J. Walther, Johann M. (Kathie) Walther, Scott M. Kockler and Joel R. (Caitlyn) Walther; and 10 great-grandchildren, Kiersten, Madelyn, Alayna, Cyril, Justin, Lauren and Ryan Walther, Nicholas and Mackenzie Kockler and Dylan Cox; three stepbrothers; and three stepsisters. Deceased are a daughter, Wilhelma M. “Willy” Walther; three grandchildren, Keith R. Kockler, Richard E. Kockler Jr. and Daniel M. Kockler; a brother, Glenn Conklin; and a sister, Evogene Smith.
