Anthony Manko
Anthony Manko, 92, of Pittsburgh, died Monday, October 29, 2012, in UPMC-Mercy hospital, Pittsburgh.He was born November 26, 1919, in Pittsburgh, son of John and Mary Sompel Manko.Mr. Manko was retired as a driver for Airport Transportation Co. in Pittsburgh. He also had been employed by P&LE Railroad and Yellow Cab Co.He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater aboard the USS St. Louis.Mr. Manko enjoyed fishing and bowling with his buddies in a league up to two weeks ago.Surviving are two sons, Truman A. Manko of Wareham, Mass., and Lewis R. Manko of Finleyville; two daughters, Carol A. Leasure of Weirton, W.Va., and Mina “Dee” Englert and husband Ed of Finleyville; three grandchildren, Robert C. and Daniel A. Englert and Heather Lysaght; two great-grandsons, Robert E. Englert and Xavier Lysaght; and several nieces and nephews.A son, Michael John Manko, is deceased.At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation. A memorial Mass with burial in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township, will be held at a later date.Arrangements are under the direction of Kegel Funeral Home Inc., Finleyville, Tim P. Kegel, supervisor.
