John Joseph Seman Retired truck driver and WWII Army veteran
John Joseph Seman, 88, of Beallsville, died Thursday, September 27, 2012, in his home.
He was born March 18, 1924, in Hiller, son of the late Andrew and Anna Paydo Seman.
Mr. Seman was a 1942 graduate of Brownsville High School.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1943 to 1945 with the 700th Engineering Company. He participated in campaigns in India-Burma. For his service, he was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Medal with one bronze star, Meritorious Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal and a WWII Victory Medal.
In 1986, he retired from Allied Chemical Co., later known as Welland of Newell, where he worked as a truck driver with more than 35 years of service.
He later became the first manager of Beallsville Borough Sewage System.
On August 20, 1974, he married Marian Mason, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, George Johnson (Carla) of McMurray, Robert Seman of the state of California and Rick Seman of Florida; four daughters, Dianne Midkiff and Kimberly Johnson, both of Vestaburg, Cindy Opel (Robert) of Brownsville and Susan Seese of the state of California; three brothers, Andrew Seman (Cathy) of Colorado, Ted Seman of Florida and Edward Seman (Beverly) of Virginia; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his first wife, Mary Jane DeShields Seman, who died in 1957; and two sons, Johnny Seman, who died in 1955, and Ronald Seman, who died in 1986.
Friends will be received from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville. Services and interment will be private.
