Leonard E. Shuder, 86, of Connellsville, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013, in his home.
He was born April 26, 1926, in Hackett, a son of the late Anthony and Rose Trobentar Shuder.
Mr. Shuder was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Connellsville.
He was a combat veteran having served with the Marine Corps during World War II.
Mr. Shuder was a graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, Class of 1950.
Prior to his retirement, he worked for more than 30 years as a commercial artist at the Anchor Hocking Cap Plant.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Helen Martik; children Mark Shuder of Connellsville, Brad Shuder and wife Karen of Avon, Ohio, and Therese Soboslay and husband John of Amherst, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Rose Shuder of Kings Park, N.Y.; grandchildren Leo, Ellie, Kara, Erica, Jeffery, Michael, Stephen and Mary; great-grandchildren Micah, Anna and Phoebe; two brothers, Robert and Gary Shuder; and a sister, Ruth Rehonic.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Bruce (in infancy) and Clay Shuder.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 6, when prayers of transfer will be held in Paul G. Fink Funeral Home Inc., 418 North Pittsburgh Street, Connellsville. A funeral Mass will follow at 10:45 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Connellsville, with Father Robert Lubic as celebrant. Interment will follow in Finleyville Cemetery.? In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Vincent DePaul Society, 70 North Mt. Vernon Avenue, Uniontown, 724-439-9188. Full military rites will be accorded in the funeral home by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 21 and American Legion Posts 301 and 762.
