Samuel Douglas Garrett

Samuel Douglas Garrett, 63, of Washington, died Sunday, April 7, 2013, in UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born August 11, 1949, in Washington, a son of Mabel Loughman Garrett of Washington and the late Samuel D. Garrett.

Mr. Garrett was a 1967 graduate of Trinity High School.

He worked at the former Canon Plastics in Canonsburg.

Mr. Garrett enjoyed traveling, doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles and sports, especially golf and wrestling.

On April 28, 1973, he married Deborah Bush, who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Jennifer Garrett of Washington; a son, Steven Garrett (Bernice) of Waynesburg; three grandchildren, Summerlea, Holly and Jesse Garrett; two brothers, Robert Garrett and Carl “Butch” Garrett (Evelyn), both of Washington; and a sister, Bonnie McGowan (Thomas) of Scenery Hill.

A sister-in-law, Patricia Garrett, is deceased.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home, Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 11, with the Rev. Robert Neal officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
