Mildred L. Hodgson, 87, of Monongahela, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013, in Monongahela Valley Hospital.
She was born April 14, 1925, a daughter of John and Virginia McDermott.
Mrs. Hodgson, along with her husband, Lawrence, formerly owned and operated Hodgson’s Lawn Mower Repair Service in Monongahela. She enjoyed being with people and making new friends. She gave of herself and her time to help others, always putting them before herself. She loved spending time with her family. She was a bargain hunter at yard sales, enjoyed rebating, planting flowers, watching movies, working on crossword puzzles, reading, playing cards, cooking, canning and especially loved eating desserts.
She is survived by three sons, George A. Hodgson and wife Linda of Belle Vernon, the Rev. Lawrence Hodgson Jr. and wife Ethel of Columbia and John R. Hodgson and wife Sun of Pensacola, Fla.; a daughter, Priscilla Hodgson of Charleroi; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Hodgson, who died May 10, 1996; a daughter, Gloria Keith; a brother, John; and a sister, Gloria.
Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 11. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Condolences may be made to the family at www.fryefuneralhome.com.
