Rosie Lee Dates Patterson
Rosie Lee Dates Patterson, 68, of Washington, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013, in Donnell House, Washington.
She was born June 6, 1944, in Sylacauga, Ala., a daughter of Willie Augusta Truss Dates of Washington and the late William Henry Dates.
Ms. Patterson was a 1962 graduate of Trinity High School and a 1970 graduate of the Washington Hospital School of Nursing.
She was employed by Washington Hospital as a registered nurse for 18 years and was a member of the Association of Operating Room Nurses. For the last several years, she worked in home and hospice care including for Medi Home Hospice.
Ms. Patterson enjoyed watching all sports on television, her grandchildren’s sports games and watching her children growing up.
She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, where she was an usher and a member of the Missionary Society. She also was a member of Western-Star Temple 3 and Alpha Council 1.
Surviving are a son, Joseph L. (Edele) Henderson Jr. of Washington; a daughter, Rhonda (Richard) Barnes of Washington, with whom she made her home; three brothers, Robert Dates and Frederick Dates, both of Washington, and James “Dino” Dates of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a sister, Nancy McGruder of Washington; seven grandchildren, Richard, Shayne, Zachary, Celina, Keara, Joe-lea and Marquesha; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother, William Dates.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Friendship Baptist Church, 17 West Walnut Street, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 13, with the Rev.
