Samuel Joseph Dolinar, 95, of Salem Township, died Sunday, April 7, 2013, in Excela Health Westmoreland, Greensburg.

He was born September 15, 1917, in Avella, a son of the late Simon and Anna Dolinar.

Deceased is his beloved wife of 47 years, Rita Valerie Downs Dolinar.

Prior to his retirement, he worked for decades as an office manager at Jamison Coal Co. and later at Consolidation Coal Co.

Mr. Dolinar was a longtime member of St. John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church in Delmont and the Delmont Lions Club.

His family fondly remembers that gardening was one of his passions, especially raising and harvesting his fruits and vegetables.

Survivng are his loving family, three sons, Samuel Joseph Dolinar Jr. of Sunland, Calif., Randell Keith Dolinar of Spring, Texas, and Kevin David Dolinar and wife Carolyn of Venetia; two grandchildren, Sean Jeffrey Dolinar of Pittsburgh and Brian Scott Dolinar and wife Mary Clare of Madison, Wis.; and seven nieces and nephews, Edmund Paul Likar, Ronald James Likar and William Anthony Likar, all of Houston, Sandra Ann Dougherty of Wimauma, Fla., Joanne Marie Dolinar of Akron, Ohio, Louis Anthony Dolinar Jr. of Ocean Beach, N.Y., and Maryann Pinsky of Lenexa, Kansas.

Also deceased are three siblings, Mary Agnes Likar, Louis Anthony Dolinar and Anna Cecelia Debelak, and a nephew, Norman Francis Debelak.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 8 p.m. Friday in Bash-Nied Funeral Home, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont, 724-468-8381. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m Saturday, April 13, in St. John Baptist de la Salle Church, Delmont, with Father Joseph Bonafed as celebrant. Interment services will follow at Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
