Martha Jane Morris, 82, of Holbrook (Jackson Township), died Saturday, April 20, 2013, in Assisted Living at Evergreen, Waynesburg, after being in failing health since June 2012.
She was born April 19, 1931, in Richhill Township, a daughter of the late Elbin Alvin and Elizabeth Glenola Finnegan Riggle.
Mrs. Morris had been a resident of Jackson Township since 1954 and was a member of Maranantha Baptist Church, Holbrook.
She was a member of the former Aleppo Grange and a member of East Franklin Grange at the time of her death.
Mrs. Morris enjoyed toll painting, quilting and arts and crafts, as long as her health permitted.
She was an employee of the former Berkowitz Pajama Factory and the former Greenway Manufacturing Co., both in Waynesburg, prior to retiring in 1986. Following retirement, she was involved in general house cleaning for neighbors and friends for more than 20 years.
On August 17, 1948, she married Harry Newton Morris, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Linda, wife of Russell McCollum of Sycamore; a son, Ronald, husband of Bonnie Morris of Holbrook; three granddaughters, Stacy Campion, Stephanie McCollum and Michelle Morris; a great-granddaughter, Sean Campion; a brother, Frank, husband of Pat Riggle of Strawsburg, Ohio; a sister, Donna, wife of Wayne Tharp of Midland; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, are a great-grandson, Liam Campion, who died at birth; a sister, Joan Hunter; and a brother, Robert Riggle.
Friends will be received from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday in Rush Funeral Home Inc., Rogersville, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, with the Rev. Vernon K. Berdine officiating. Interment will follow in Macedonia Cemetery, Jackson Township. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of choice.
