Duane H. Dewalt, 66, of Canonsburg, died unexpectedly Wednesday, April 24, 2013, in his home.
He was born April 27, 1946, in Canonsburg, a son of William and Hazel Engel Dewalt.
Mr. Dewalt was a 1964 graduate of Canon-McMillan High School and he attended Technical School in Pittsburgh for two years.
He worked at RCA in Meadow Lands until it closed, Black Box Corp. and Giant Eagle.
Mr. Dewalt served in the U.S. Army.
He was a former member of Chartiers Lodge 297 F&AM, Canonsburg, and Scottish Rite, Valley of Pittsburgh.
On April 2, 1971, he married Rise Hammond, who survives.
Also surviving are three children, Ryan Dewalt (Candy) of Gilroy, Calif., Jill Estus (Mark) of McDonald and Andrew Dewalt (Nicole) of Spanaway, Wash.; four granddaughters, Emily and Sara Estus and Ambriel and Kalea Dewalt; mother-in-law Shirley Hammond of Washington; brother-in-law Paul Hammond (Debbie) of Dallas, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Sharon Harps (Carl) of Washington and Nancy Hammond of Clarksville, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 29. Interment will be private.
