Raymond W. McCartney

Raymond W. McCartney, 85, of Washington, died Saturday, April 27, 2013, in Veterans Administration Medical Center, Highland Drive, Pittsburgh.

He was born March 14, 1928, in Munntown, a son of the late Walter and Irene Hemelrick McCartney.

Mr. McCartney served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. He was honorably discharged with a rank of private first class and was awarded a World War II Victory Medal.

He worked for McGraw-Edison in Canonsburg and also for All Metzner and Pluto’s Auto Sales.

On December 24, 1960, he married Thelma Louise Ellis, who died November 10, 2001.

Surviving are two daughters, Mary Walden of Washington and Nancy McGruder of Uniontown; two sisters, Donetta Hainbaugh of Confluence and Helen Adrian of Pompano Beach, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Deceased are a brother, Walter McCartney, and a sister, Catherine Ingraham.

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, May 3, in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
