Army veteran was Mellon Bank retiree

Albert B. “Dino” Parascenzo, 78, of Canonsburg, died Tuesday, August 6, 2013, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born January 30, 1935, in Canonsburg, a son of the late Alberto and Virginia Butti Parascenzo.

Mr. Parascenzo was a 1952 graduate of Canonsburg High School and a member of St. Patrick Church and Muse Italian Club, where he served as an officer. He also served with the U.S. Army.

Prior to retirement, he was a loan officer for Mellon Bank and, at the time of his death, was employed by Northwest Consumer Discount as a loan officer.

Surviving are wife Carol Schmidt Parascenzo; five daughters, Carina Luwisch (David) of Los Angeles, Calif., Michelle Haywood of Claysville, Dina Boyle (James) of Canonsburg, Marcy VonScio (Kevin) of Washington and Paula Gesselberty (Francis) of McMurray; a brother, Raldo Parascenzo of Canonsburg; eight grandchildren, Carlie and Emily Haywood, Elizabeth and Joshua Gesselberty, Tonia Boyle, Drew and Kyle VonScio and Seth Luwisch; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased is a sister, Savina Mazzotta.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Sollon Funeral Home Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, J. David Sollon, supervisor, Phillip L. Sollon, director, where departing prayers will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday, August 9, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Canonsburg. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Township.
