Mary E. “Libby” Durish, 91, of Houston, died Wednesday, August 7, 2013, in Breese Rest Home, Claysville.
She was born December 5, 1921, in Greensburg, a daughter of James and Kate Hays Lutes.
Mrs. Durish was a 1940 graduate of Trinity High School and had worked at the former Hazel Atlas Glass and RCA.
She was a member of the former United Women, Canonsburg-Houston Chapter and Democrat Women in Houston.
On June 27, 1942, she married Peter Durish, who died August 2, 1991.
Surviving are three daughters, Darlene “Dolly” Congie (William) of Houston, Carol Gump (Alex Jr.) of Canonsburg and Patricia Durish of Houston; eight grandchildren, Tim, Todd and Troy Gump (Stacey), Bill, Rob (Deb) and Joe Congie, Joelle Falcone (Sam) and Jamie Onda (Nathan); 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Sara Budzanoski of Cokeburg; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two daughters, Marlene “Molly” Easingwood and Joyce Zareck; a son, Peter, who died in infancy; a grandson, Jeffrey Congie; a great-granddaughter, Jourdan Burke; two brothers, James and William Lutes; and two sisters, Carolyn Jacobs and Alda Specks.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 10, with the Rev. Catherine Peternel officiating. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Canonsburg. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the charity of one’s choice.
