Member of St. Hilary Church, was homemaker

Ann Louise Brytus, 90, of Washington, died Wednesday, August 7, 2013, in Donnell House, Washington, following a one-year illness.

She was born September 12, 1922, in Washington, a daughter of John and Matilda Hebner Landock.

Mrs. Brytus was a homemaker and a member of St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church.

She was a 52-year member and a past president of Polish Club Ladies Dart Ball Team. She also was a member of Claysville American Legion Auxiliary 639 and National Slovak Society and worked elections as precinct captain.

On April 21, 1945, she married John M. Brytus, who died December 23, 1981.

Surviving are a son, James (Theresa) Brytus of Dayton, Ohio; a daughter, Mary Ann (Mark) Hull of Washington; two grandchildren, Erin Wilkinson and Jonathan Brytus; stepgranddaughter Heather White; and six great-grandchildren.

Deceased are five brothers, George, John, Tom, Edward and Joseph Landock; and three sisters, Rachael Brahs, Mary Primm and Ruth Cheslock.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 to 10 a.m., the time of service, Saturday, August 10, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with the Rev. Thomas O’Neil officiating. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Township.

Claysville homemaker enjoyed gardening

Lois Irene Beabout Conaway, 91, of Claysville, died Thursday, August 8, 2013, in Donnell House, Washington.

She was born May 4, 1922, in Greene County, a daughter of Leo and Vesta Clutter Beabout.

Mrs. Conaway was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, puzzles and cooking.

On November 21, 1946, she married Ralph E. Conaway, who died December 1, 2005.

Surviving are a son, David Conaway of Taylorstown; a daughter, Linda (John) Gallagher of Peters Township; four grandchildren, Quentin Conaway, Crissy Laush, Judy Flick and Renee (Jaime) Holt; and three great-grandchildren, Noah, Preston and Parker.

Deceased are six brothers, Charles, Wayne, Carl, Earl, George and Reed Beabout; and two sisters, Sarah Hopkins and Dorothy Karvan.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, August 12. Burial will be private at a later date in Prosperity Cemetery.

Mary E. “Libby” Durish, 91, of Houston, died Wednesday, August 7, 2013, in Breese Rest Home, Claysville.

She was born December 5, 1921, in Greensburg, a daughter of James and Kate Hays Lutes.

Mrs. Durish was a 1940 graduate of Trinity High School and had worked at the former Hazel Atlas Glass and RCA.

She was a member of the former United Women, Canonsburg-Houston Chapter and Democrat Women in Houston.

On June 27, 1942, she married Peter Durish, who died August 2, 1991.

Surviving are three daughters, Darlene “Dolly” Congie (William) of Houston, Carol Gump (Alex Jr.) of Canonsburg and Patricia Durish of Houston; eight grandchildren, Tim, Todd and Troy Gump (Stacey), Bill, Rob (Deb) and Joe Congie, Joelle Falcone (Sam) and Jamie Onda (Nathan); 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Sara Budzanoski of Cokeburg; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased are two daughters, Marlene “Molly” Easingwood and Joyce Zareck; a son, Peter, who died in infancy; a grandson, Jeffrey Congie; a great-granddaughter, Jourdan Burke; two brothers, James and William Lutes; and two sisters, Carolyn Jacobs and Alda Specks.

Retired bank manager loved playing cards

Wilma D. Wyels Hughes, 83, of Marianna, died Wednesday, August 7, 2013, in her home.

She was born February 10, 1930, in Scenery Hill, a daughter of the late Cyrus “Jack” Finley and Blanche Irene Garre Davis.

Mrs. Hughes was a former bank manager at the Marianna branch of National City Bank, retiring in 1991, with more than 25 years of service. She gained her banking experience through her employment with First National Bank, Integra Bank and finally National City Bank.

She was a lifelong member of Zollarsville Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was church treasurer. She was a former member of Marianna Library Board and was treasurer of Washington County District Library. She was secretary and treasurer of Marianna Community Action Board and Marianna Business Men’s Association. She also was a former member of Old Trails Business and Professional Women and a member of Beth-Center Senior Citizens Center.

Mrs. Hughes loved playing cards and belonged to several card game groups with her friends. She enjoyed crocheting and especially spending time with her family.

For 54 years, she was married to her first husband, George Wyels Jr., who died March 9, 1999. On May 7, 2004, she married her second husband, Thomas Hughes Sr., who died March 21, 2011.

Surviving are three children, Wendy Wyels Stepp (John) of Marianna, with whom she resided, George “Butch” Wyels III (Carol) of Westville, Ind., and Dale R. Wyels of Marianna; nine grandchildren, Tammy Cabrera (Chuck) of Gilbert, Ariz., Barry Wyels (Heidi) of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Jamie Wyels (Alexis) of Glenshaw, Jason Stepp (Gina) of Marianna, Shannon Wickersham (Brandon) of Omaha, Neb., Dr. Michelle Stepp (John Arbuckle) of Marianna, Jennifer Skibbe of Coon Rapids, Minn., Jesse Wyels of Sewickley and Ashley Moore (Steve) of North Versailles; 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Davis (Dolly) of Bentleyville and Ernest Davis (Betty) of New Stanton; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents and husbands, is a son, Gary Lee Wyels, who died August 28, 1981.

Diana Chambers Kramer, 48, of Waynesburg, died at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2013, in UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh.

Josephine Meno Retucci, 87, of Millsboro, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2013.

Deceased are husbands Frank Swaniger and Andrew Retucci.

She was the loving mother of Mary Ann (Allen) Fazzari, Andy (Robin) Retucci and the late Michael Retucci; loving grandmother of Amy, Andrea and Aaron Fazzari; great-grandmother of David and Jackson Fazzari; aunt of Chuckie Magda; and stepgrandmother of Courtney and Jeremy Anesetti.

Terrel “Gene” Richmond, 80, of Prosperity, died Wednesday, August 7, 2013, in his home, following a three-week illness.

He was born May 24, 1933, in Cameron, W.Va., a son of Fritz and Zerval Blake Richmond.

Mr. Richmond was a 1951 graduate of Claysville High School and studied meat cutting in Chicago.

He worked as a butcher and later in maintenance for Coen Oil Co. for 32 years. He also operated Bells Lakes since 1973.

Mr. Richmond enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping with his children and grandchildren, and hunting.

He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Graysville and Independent Club.

On April 29, 1955, he married Donna Lee Bell, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Michael Gene Richmond (Paula) of Washington and Larry Dean Richmond of Prosperity; a daughter, Kimberly Martin of Fremont, Ohio; twin brother Verrel Dean Richmond (Nancy) of Washington; five grandchildren, Michael, Megan, Jinnie, Gina and Alison; and seven great-grandchildren.

Deceased are a brother, Ronald Richmond, and two sisters, Lillian Widmer and Wanda Janovich.

Rose Marie Seward, 85, of South Fayette Township, died Thursday, August 8, 2013.

Tanya Dee Sexton, 52, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, August 4, 2013, in Pittsburgh.

She was born August 30, 1960, in Altoona, a beloved daughter of Dolores A. Hickerson and Charles E. Sexton, who survive.

Miss Sexton, listed as a gifted student, graduated at the age of 16 from Altoona School District. She pursued and attained a bachelor of science degree in secondary education from Penn State University.

She pursued diversity initiatives in her professional work life, which included employment at Penn State-Beaver campus as the director of minority programs, US Airways as a diversity training analyst and Price Waterhouse Coopers Inc. as the northeast market diversity strategist consultant.

Miss Sexton was an applauded vocalist at her church, Second Baptist Church of Rochester, where she was instrumental in the organization and training of several choral efforts on her own.

She was a “people person” who had many loving friends and acquaintances. She loved to make someone’s life a little better, but her greatest love was for the Lord Jesus Christ and her family. “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning” from Psalm 30:5 was a favorite passage.

Surviving, in addition to her devoted mother and father, are four brothers, Adam J. and Jared C. Sexton, Charles M. Hickerson and Douglas B. Walker; three cousins, Pearl, Sarah and Arminta McGee; and aunts and uncles Cheryl Sexton, the Rev. Willis Hickerson, Ernest (Connie) Hickerson and Dr. Robert (Otrie) Smith.

Deceased are her stepfather, the Rev. Charles M. Hickerson Sr., and sister Murphy Jane Hickerson.

Theodore J. “Ted” Taylor IV, 35, of Peters Township, died unexpectedly Wednesday, August 7, 2013.

He was born October 24, 1977, in Pittsburgh, a son of Theodore J. “Ted” Taylor III and the late Catherine Mottey Taylor.

Mr. Taylor was a lifelong resident of Peters Township and a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh.

He was a real estate broker since 1998 and was the owner and operator of Taylor Made Realty.

Mr. Taylor enjoyed attending his children’s events, traveling, investing in the stock market and music.

Surviving are his father, Theodore J. “Ted” Taylor III and wife Linda Taylor; his wife, Angelina Marino Taylor; three adorable children, Isabella “Bella” Taylor, Theodore J. “T.J.” Taylor V and Charles “Charlie” Taylor; an aunt, Beverly Taylor Clark; two cousins, Cindy Patt and Debbie Patt; a stepbrother, Scott Davidson (Alicia); and four stepnieces.

Deceased, in addition to his mother, is a sister, Alyson Lyn Taylor.

Joyce Mae Thropp, 70, of Sycamore, died Thursday, August 8, 2013, in UPMC-Shadyside hospital, Pittsburgh.

She was born August 22, 1942, a daughter of the late James and Regina Bricker Kern.

Mrs. Thropp was a 1960 graduate of Trinity High School.

She was a homemaker. She enjoyed watching and feeding her birds, mowing her lawn and socializing at Anawanna Club.

On November 12, 1960, she married William A. Thropp, who is deceased.

Surviving are a grandson, Bob Von Scio and wife Sara of Washington; two great-grandchildren, Chaucer and Sebastian; a brother, James and wife Nancy Kern; three sisters, Jean and husband Leslie Black, Judy and husband John Rankin and Jane (Francis Black); and two sisters-in-law, Carol Thropp and Shirley and husband Joseph Polacek.

Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, is a daughter, Dawn Von Scio.
