Avid golfer, sports fan retired from Jessop 

Joseph P. “Joe” Sienkiel, 86, of Washington, died at 12:17 a.m. Thursday, August 8, 2013, in Washington Hospital.

He was born September 18, 1926, in Grand Rapids, Mich., a son of the late Albert and Josephine Sienkiel.

Mr. Sienkiel served in the U.S. Army from 1949 to 1952. After serving in the military, he was employed for 34 years by Jessop Steel as a millwright, until his retirement.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and was an avid golfer and sports fan.

Mr. Sienkiel was a member of American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175, Pulaski Club, Polish Club and BPOE Elks Lodge 776.

On June 12, 1948, he married Gloria L. King, who died in 2001.

Surviving are sons Steve (Ruth) Sienkiel of McMurray and Joe (Ann) Sienkiel of Georgetown, Texas; a daughter, Karen McHenry of Cranston, R.I., a brother, Norbert Sienkiel of Washington; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a very good friend, Glenna McDougal of Washington.

Deceased is a brother, Edward Sienkiel.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., Wilson at East Katherine avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director. A blessing service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 13, in the funeral home with Father Thomas D. O’Neil officiating. Burial will be private.
