Retired handyman was fine craftsman

Robert Brenton Reedy, 73, of Venetia, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2013, surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born January 24, 1940, in Hickory, a son of the late Clair Alvin Reedy and Hilda Gertrude Davidson.

Mr. Reedy graduated from McDonald High School in 1957.

He married the love of his life, Nancy Gale Conrad, March 30, 1963, and they celebrated 50 years of marriage together this past spring.

An electrician by trade, he worked for Stanton Systems and Pittsburgh-Des Moines Steel and then started his own business as “Handyman Bob” prior to retirement. He was a true “jack-of-all-trades,” able to fix anything around the house (or in the driveway), and was also a fine woodworking craftsman who took great joy in building intricate rocking horses for his grandchildren.

Although he traveled across the country to spend time with his family, his favorite place was Lake Erie. He enjoyed his summers in Erie boating and fishing on the lake, listening to the waves, watching the beautiful sunsets with his wife by his side and making s’mores over the campfire with his family. An avid reader and history buff, he also enjoyed puzzles and playing Scrabble with his wife.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy; two children, Brenton C. of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., and Steven K. of Sparta, N.J.; and six grandchildren, Nicholas, Alexandra, Keith, Samantha, Anna and Kaitlyn.

Also surviving are six siblings, L. Wesley of Lansing, Mich., James of Burgettstown, David of Wiggins, Colo., Bonnie Kolano of Brighton, Colo., Sharon Burt of Taylorstown and Jon of Carrollton, Texas.

Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Beinhauers, 724-941-3211, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 14, in Peters Creek United Presbyterian Church, Venetia. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills. Please add or view tributes at www.beinhauer.com.
