Coal miner, St. Patrick Church member

Edward Muggar, 94, of Sturgeon, South Fayette Township, died Wednesday, August 14, 2013, in Ohio Valley Hospital.

He was born January 19, 1919, in Sturgeon, a son of the late Constant and Eva Muggar.

Mr. Muggar was a coal miner with North Star Coal Co. and was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church. He enjoyed woodworking (especially making birdhouses) and raising and racing homing pigeons.

Surviving are his wife of 14 years, Edith Vettorel Muggar; children Janet (Kenneth) Oelschlager of McMurray and Edward (Jan) Muggar of South Fayette Township; grandchildren Keven Oelschlager, Tracy Stieglitz and Paula Archinaco; great-grandchildren Kamron and Ashley Oelschlager and Alyssa and Corey Stieglitz; brother and sister Victor (Ruth) Muggar of Cecil and Della Pierce of Carnegie; nephew Steve Bertolino; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Orelia Muggar (1989), three sisters and one brother.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Thomas-Little Funeral Service Inc., 5000 Noblestown Road, Oakdale, 724-693-2800. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon Saturday, August 17, in St. Patrick R.C. Church, 7322 Noblestown Road, Oakdale. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
