Katherine “Ruth” Johnston, 90, of Washington, died Tuesday evening, August 13, 2013, in the Donnell House, Washington.
She was born October 11, 1922, in Washington, a daughter of Boyd M. and Frances Richey Herschell.
She was a glass packer for more than 25 years at the former Brockway Glass Plant 7.
Mrs. Johnston was a Baptist and attended Abundant Life Church of Washington.
She enjoyed family gatherings, shopping, word searches and reading.
She was married to Ross L. Johnston, who died September 27, 1980.
Surviving are a son, David R. (Shirley M.) Johnston of Washington; a brother, James Clifford Herschell of Washington; a sister, Nancy M. (Don) Casto of Washington; two grandchildren, Joy (Dan) Adams and David R. Johnston II; two great-grandchildren, Morgan Joy Adams and Aubrey Danielle Adams; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a sister, Pansy Lewis; and two brothers, Glenn Vernon Herschell and Paul Herschell.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Hummell & Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, director, where a celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 17, with Donald Herschell as celebrant. Interment will follow at Washington Cemetery.
